Balance & Impulse Intensive

Nationwide psychological assistance
    Balance & Impulse Intensive

Balance & Impulse has been operating nationwide since 1977 as an organisation for  psychological training and advice. We offer employers and employees practical instruments and techniques for the promotion of mental strength and healthy achievement. Our aim is to enable clients to resume their lives and tasks both at work as well as at home. Balance & Impulse Intensive has been specially developed for people with severe psychological  problems, who want to get a hold of  their lives again, both in their work and in the private sphere. The problems clients may be experiencing can be, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, exhaustion, mourning, or symptoms triggered by traumatic experiences.
When people experience psychological problems, it often leads to additional problems, for instance, difficulties at work, in relationships, in the organisation of family life or financial troubles. In the Balance & Impulse Intensive course these problems are specifically dealt with by a multidisciplinary team, which consists of a psychologist, a medical specialist and, if necessary, a troubleshooter.
An important starting point is that, with the help of extensive diagnostics, a personal evaluation is made. Whether an individual or a group is concerned, on the basis of this a plan of action is made. This gives a foundation from which individuality/idiosyncrasies can be recognised and influenced. Clear information is given about (possible) cure or re-education, but also the limits and mental vulnerability which have to be accepted are indicated. With practical psychological training the clients are given a measure of security and tools to make their problems acceptable and to take control of their lives. Personal strength and ability to look after themselves is stimulated.
During the training there is close cooperation with the client’s own supporters, such as family and friends. When these are not, or insufficiently present, an attempt is made to organise a compromise. In addition, effective functioning at work in a suitable environment is considered to be an important impulse towards cure. There is close coordination with the occupational physician and the management.
The aim of Balance & Impulse is that everyone concerned learns from the situation; not only the client but also the management and the home front. Studies show that lasting cure and healthy functioning are stimulated in this way.
Individuals, groups and families can go downhill through incorrect use or neglect of personal characteristics. Exhaustion, depression, sadness, irritation and disappointments are the result.
Sometimes aims and wishes are pursued which are not (no longer) possible. The self-image differs from the actual inner potential. Charting the characteristics can provide an answer. The method used by Balance & Impulse is clear and practical. The downhill trend is reversed, within the limits of the personal potential.

The Balance & Impulse Intensive principles are also to be found in the following activities:

- Personal training short intensive
For situations in which the wish to learn and the personal potential are present, so that a short course will be sufficient to obtain the measure of security needed to deal with the problem.
And psychological training will lead to effective functioning at work and in other life situations. This course consists of 12 – 15 hours consultation with a psychologist and one appointment with a medical specialist.

-  Personal training intensive
For non-recurrent severe psychiatric problems or periods with complaints. Support is present both in private life and in the work situation. The start of the help programme is a consultation with a medical specialist, but the emphasis is on the psychological training which lasts, on the average, 20 hours.

- Personal training extra intensive
Severe problems, which prevent effective functioning both at work and in private life. There is some support both at work and in private life. Combined intensive training and help are offered by psychologist, troubleshooter and medical specialist.

- Personal training highly intensive
In chronic clinical problems and multi-problem situations, the aim of the training is to avoid admission to a clinic and to stabilise the home situation. Help is provided by intensive cooperation in a multidisciplinary team. The aim is to overcome the problems and achieve  reintegration in the tasks of life and work. The help in this programme is always provided by a multidisciplinary team of medical specialist, psychologist and troubleshooter.

Refunding
Balance & Impulse Intensive is recognized as an organisation for specialised medical care. (Partial) refunding is possible from health insurances, if the case fulfils the medical criteria for second-line care.
