Diagnostic screening
Diagnostic screening
Small-scale psychological diagnostics in connection with reintegration into work after sick leave for psychological reasons
What is diagnostic screening
In connection with the laws on absence and sick leave, the need has arisen for concrete advice about diagnosis, treatment and reintegration where the cause of the sick leave is psychological. The intention is that employers and employees should work together for a period of two years on recovery and reintegration in the work process, but this is not easy. The diagnostic screening is designed to give employer and employee a basis from which to work on recovery and the reintegration process. Balance & Impulse’s approach is that both employer and employee learn from the psychological sick leave. For this reason, the results of this screening are always discussed in a “round-table reintegration session”.
Activities
The diagnostic screening takes 12 hours of psychological service, consisting of the following activities:
- entry and agreement about the purpose of the screening
- a diagnostic interview with the employee
- personality tests performed by the employee
- analysis and report by the psychologist
- advisory session with the employee
- the employee may use his right to see and correct the report, and even to block it
- the medical report is, with the employee’s permission, sent to the occupational physician
- round-table advisory session at the client’s address, with the employee, his superior, the medical officer and the psychologist from Balance & Impulse. At this time, the superior is given a summary of the report.
- independent continuation of the contact between employer and employee, selected referral by Balance & Impulse to a form of psychological/psychiatric treatment or a “personal training’ by Balance & Impulse.
These activities can be completed within a fortnight if employer and employee work together towards rapid agreement and communication.
Result
The diagnostic screening gives information about:
- the nature of the psychological problems
- advice about treatment and prognosis for recovery
- advice about work and ability to deal with work-stress
- advice about activities the employee can undertake to further his recovery and reintegration
- advice about activities the employer can undertake to further the recovery and integration of the employee
- the ‘round-table’ session with all concerned, offers the opportunity to reach a communal view of the situation and to decide on an effective course of action. (For further information see “Reintegration Consultation”.)
Costs
Balance & Impulse makes an offer on the basis of the entry session. The costs of this session are only charged if the project is not continued. The diagnostic screening starts after a signed copy of the offer has been received. An overview of charges can be found in the Summary of costs. After endorsement of the offer, Balance & Impulse sends an invoice with the request for payment within 2 weeks.
