Overview of products for recovery from psychological complaints

• Personal training
The personal training has been developed especially for those who dropped out of their work as a consequence of a disturbed balance, like burn out, fear and stress, depression and emotional problems are a consequence of a traumatic experience. The aim of the training is to enable the client to return in full strength to his or her daily life and work. Moreover, it offers active support for reintegration into the work process for personal of all levels. A personal training consists of up to 15 sessions in case of serious complaints and 8-10 sessions for minor complaints. In addition to the sessions, a full training includes 6 hours intake and diagnostics and 5 hours advice/consultation, including two ‘round table’ discussions with the client employee, his superior, the company doctor and the company psychologist, in order to reach agreement on a course of action towards recovery and reintegration.

• Diagnostic screening
As a consequence of the ‘Wet Poortwachter’ (Gatekeeper law) there is a need for specific advice on diagnosics, treatment and reintegration in case of absenteeism for psychological reasons. The diagnostic screening provides the employer and the employee information about the nature of the complaints, and advice on treatment and reintegration.

• Psychological inquiry to capabilities and stress resistance
We are qualified to perform psychological tests on employees. These tests are usually ordered by a company doctor, a human resource manager or a medical insurance expert, when an employee is on sickness leave for psychological reasons. In many cases, psychodiagnostic work is ordered because a reintegration process has stagnated. This work always results in a written report, including advice for further measures.

• Psychological and psychiatric inquiry
Balans & Impuls offers a combination of psychological and psychiatric inquiry in complex cases. Such an inquiry is usually ordered by a company doctor or a medical insurance expert who provides a written formulation of the problems, together with information about the employee; they are sent to  Balans & Impuls with the employee’s consent.

A psychiatric inquiry also addresses the strong and weak spots of someone’s personality, checking for the presence of psychiatric symptoms and/or personality disorders. The developmental history of the personality gets ample attention in the inquiry. Relevant information is collected in a diagnostic interview. The inquiry consists of a psychiatric diagnosis, a prognosis for recovery and an advice for treatment, if necessary.

• Psychological and neuropsychological inquiry
Balans & Impuls resorts to a combined psychological and neuropsychological inquiry if the functioning of an employee is hampered as a consequence of psychological complaints and if there are good reasons to assume reduced cognitive capabilities.
Neuropsychology focuses on the relation between brains and behaviour. A neuropsychologist inquires the consequences of brain damage on reasoning, memory, language, emotions, social behaviour and everyday life. Whenever there are shortcomings in these areas, a neuropsychologist will seek reasons to assume that brain damage is the cause. The inquiry results in recommendations and in a description of the limitations of the mental capabilities.

Preceding any individual treatment a free introductory conversation is possible.
