Humane Management
Group training: Humane Management
For managers who want to have achieve good results with vital employees
This training provides a practical development of a humane style of leadership. You learn to achieve good results with personnel in a good condition. You get guidelines to lead your employees, each in accordance with his or her personal qualities and limitations.
Success or failure on the job is determined by more than knowledge and skills. What we will focus on are the interaction between employee, employer, work, organisation and private life. Another crucial matter is the employee’s self guidance. How is his or her ‘manual’?
One team leader told me once: ‘When I buy a CD-player, a manual is included; if have to find out the employee’s manual by trial and error’.
The training in humane management provides a vision and a practical approach enabling you to limit the errors and to realise active and positive cooperation with your employee, also in case of malfunctioning and sickness leave for psychological reasons. Included as course material is the book ‘How people work’ by mrs. Heilwine Bakker MA, mrs. Liesbeth Eurelings-Bontekoe, PhD and prof. Anthony Gaillard, PhD.
Why is it so important, especially in these days, to focus on humane management?
Considering the sickness leave figures, we observe that 1/3 of it is caused by psychological complaints. The new trend is ‘passive absenteeism’: employees show up at work, but lack energy, concentration and motivation to such an extent that the results are far below standards. This growing number is not surprising since the bulk of the work force is employed in services or informatisation. This relatively new type of work requires high standards in social and emotional and cognitive skills. Customers must be served swiftly and efficiently. Mutual irritations must be eliminated by effective communication, e-mails must be answered, deadlines must be met. Training is needed to keep pace with rapid development in one’s field of expertise and raising standards. Organisations are growing more complex, roles are more diffuse and cooperation in self guiding teams becomes commonplace; this can be nice, but also nerve wrecking. On top of that, there is the increased pressure of life in general: hobbies, interesting friends, combining work with care for the children and others, the relentless streams of information and traffic jams.
The strong appeal on cognitive, social and emotional intelligence is usually unknown in the regular education system. Most people learn it by trial and error. However, the vitality of the employees and of the enterprise as a whole would greatly profit from more attention to these aspects of management. This training gives you practical guidelines.
