What is a personal coaching program?
Lots of things clamour for your attention every day, not only at your work, but also at home. You are kept busy all the time. This fate is shared by your colleagues and your superiors. You hurry from one thing to another, but you hardly, if at all, reflect on how you do it. How are you coping? That is a shame, because a pause for reflection creates the opportunity for personal development and growth.
A job in the service industry imposes a heavy demand on personal and social skills. Regrettably, the development of these skills - emotional intelligence – has had little attention in our education system. As a consequence, you may not achieve the desired results, in spite of your professional expertise. How frustrating! It is hard to spot the key problem. It takes someone else to hold up the mirror for you, enabling you to look into it.
Balans & Impuls is willing to be hold up that mirror for you. In a personal coaching program we help you to develop and/or strengthen your skills in terms of emotional intelligence and self management, enabling you to handle you daily tasks at home and at work – effectively, relaxed and with pleasure.
The personal coaching program starts with the drawing up of a plan, based on your personal motivation and issues of specific interest. Attention will be paid to professional and personal functioning, simply because these cannot be separated. The personal coaching program is very practical: with conversations, exercises, tasks and games you work on your issues of specific interest, in practical situations, at home and at work. Balans & Impuls aims at short, focused coaching programs of 10 sessions at most.
The objective of personal coaching
The objective is to improve personal and professional skills for better performance and a healthy balance in private life and work.
Method
· Intake/Diagnostics
As soon as the order is confirmed, the employee receives an invitation for the intake. This intake consists of an interview of 90 minutes and the filling in of a questionnaire on his or her personality. The psychologist then compiles a diagnostic report and an advice within 10 days. The employer receives a written feedback with information (to be discussed with the employee in advance) that is relevant for the work situation.
· Personal coaching
The personal coaching proceeds with another interview based on the intake/diagnostics, resulting in an advice that is presented to the employee. The first sessions usually are conducted on a weekly basis. If the employee needs more time to do the exercises, the pace is slowed down to once every 2 or 3 weeks. The last 2 sessions are planned according to personal need. These sessions often are a sort of follow-up and help the employee to retain what he or she has learned. The sessions are practical and focused. The employee gets exercises/guidelines after each session to work on and to apply at home. The personal coaching is finalized when the employee functions effectively at home and at work.
· Advice/consultation
Prior to the personal coaching, agreement must have been reached on its objective and desired result, usually in a coaching consultation between the employee, his or her superior and the coach of Balans & Impuls. An evaluation takes place at the end of the program. Balans & Impuls not only gives feedback on the result of the coaching, but also recommends the employee’s superior how to contribute to a healthy and effective functioning of the employee. Balans & Impuls prefers not to supply information on the phone or otherwise in absence of the employee.

Costs and payment
· After a free survey interview Balans & Impuls writes a quotation. After the client has sent back a signed copy, the coaching program starts. A specification of the costs can be found in the list of tariffs.
· Balans & Impuls sends an invoice when the quotation has been signed. It is to be paid in two weeks time.
· When the personal coaching program is terminated before completion, only the costs already made will be charged.
